Hello NCA Bears! As we approach the final stretch of the semester, it's hard to believe how quickly the school year has flown by. It feels like we just kicked off the start of the 2023-2024 school year. I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you. Due to the success of this initiative last school year, all courses will remain accessible over winter break. This will provide you with a valuable opportunity to submit any missing work and potentially boost your grades. What does this mean for you?
ACT Boot Camp - It’s almost time for our next ACT Boot Camp! ACT boot camps are averaging a 30-40% boost in your overall ACT score! REMINDER: All students must take the ACT exam in order to get a high school diploma. Typically you take this during your Junior year. Interested in joining?? Please sign up HERE. The deadline to register is Friday, January 5th. IMPORTANT REMINDER - Attendance is required at one of the three ACT Boot Camps for all 11th-grade students. Please plan to attend one of the following: Attendance - Attendance is a vital component of our school and must be consistently recorded. Attendance runs from Saturday to Friday and will be collected through this form each week. This DOES NOT mean you should wait until Friday to fill out your attendance form. Please fill it out first thing Monday morning. Unsure how to fill out the form, click here for instructions. Alarm/Approaching Alarm - With the end of the semester approaching, it is likely that you will be in alarm or approaching alarm for participation or lesson completion. This is common as courses reach 100% completion. Please disregard these alarms if you have completed all your work or if you are on track to finishing on time. If you aren't, please connect with a staff member this week. If you are in alarm or approaching alarm for contacts, you should plan to reach out to a staff member this week as well. Parent Involvement Policy and Compact --Your participation in your student’s education is important to us. Because of this, we have developed a Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Compact for Nevada Connections Academy. The Policy and Compact explains how the school plans to work with parents to review and improve programs and it describes how to participate in planning these programs. Federal law requires us to distribute the Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Compact to parents and teachers. Attached is a copy of the Board-approved Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Compact for Nevada Connections Academy. You can also find a copy of this document in the School’s handbook on the Virtual Library or you can access it directly by clicking this link:https://www.connexus.com/library/launch.aspx?id=46203 YOU are invited to participate in our Student Spotlight! Hello NCA Bears! It’s hard to believe that we only have two weeks left in the first semester. It feels like we just started the school year. Hopefully, you are at a point where you are pleased with your grades and have a few assignments to finish up. If you aren’t, please use the following tips to help you through until the final day of the semester.
Stay focused, persevere, and remember – you've got this! Let’s finish the semester strong! Attendance runs from Saturday to Friday and will be collected through this form each week. This DOES NOT mean you should wait until Friday to fill out your attendance form. Please fill it out first thing Monday morning. Unsure how to fill out the form, click here for instructions. Temporary Zeros - Temporary zeros for all remaining assignments for the semester were added in on Friday, December 1st. This does not mean your assignments are considered overdue. You will still have access to these lessons and will still be able to submit these assignments until December 15th at 8:59pm. Adding in temporary zeros will give you an idea of what your grade would be should you not complete the remainder of the assignments. The goal is always to complete everything but, should you not be able to meet that goal, the next goal would be to get your grade up to passing so you can earn the credit for the course. YOU are invited to participate in our Student Spotlight! You can submit information about yourself through the 2023-2024 Student Spotlight form. Caretakers and NCA Staff are also encouraged to send in Student Spotlights. All entries submitted prior to the end of the week will be included in the following weekly webmail.
