Hello NCA Bears! As May approaches this Wednesday, I want to emphasize its significance as Mental Health Awareness Month. With the end of the school year quickly approaching, things can become overwhelming and stressful. This makes it even more important to take care of yourself, not just physically but mentally as well. Read over the 5 Areas of Self-Care below to ensure you're looking after yourself: NCA Prom- We’ll be holding TWO proms this year, one in Northern Nevada and one in Southern Nevada. All grade levels are invited to attend. You are also welcome to bring one guest with you, however, your guest must currently be in high school. If you plan to attend with a guest, you and your guest must complete the necessary documentation that has been attached to this webmail. If you plan on attending, please read through the event details carefully. Please note, the dress code provided is a suggested dress code, not a required one. Please do not feel obligated to purchase another dress/outfit if it’s not black or white. Northern Nevada Southern Nevada End-of-Year Survey - As a school, we truly care about what went well for you this year, as well as those things that you found challenging. Please take a few minutes to provide your honest, thoughtful feedback to each question below. The first step to making next year even better is hearing how things went for you this year! End-of-Year Survey Attendance - Attendance is a vital component of our school and must be consistently recorded. Attendance runs from Saturday to Friday and will be collected through this form each week. This DOES NOT mean you should wait until Friday to fill out your attendance form. Please fill it out first thing Monday morning. Unsure how to fill out the form, click here for instructions. Course Selection Form - Now's the time to select courses for next year! Take a moment to check that off your To Do List by clicking on the link found on your account. Be sure to complete the Course Selection Google Form by May 3rd. Please note that students will not be placed into their selected courses unless Intent to Return has been completed and “yes” has been selected. Returning Materials - Caretakers of students who are graduating and those who are Intent to Return (ITR) blank, undecided, and no to Connections Academy for the 2024-2025 school year will receive two emails during the last week of school:
If Caretakers need assistance, they should call a Student Services Associate at 800-382-6010 or visit the Returning Materials website. Hello NCA Bears! Friday marks 3 weeks until the last day of school!! That means summer is right around the corner! Just a few more weeks and you won't have to worry about completing any more assignments until August 6th (the first day of the 2024-2025 School Year). Seniors - If you are participating in graduation, please remember that the last day to submit work is May 5th at 11:59pm. Keep pushing forward and telling yourself that you CAN do this! If you need that push from someone else, give us a call. We can be that person for you! Temporary Zeros - Temporary zeros for all remaining assignments for the semester will be added on Friday, April 26th. This does not mean your assignments are considered overdue. You will still have access to these lessons and will still be able to submit these assignments until May 17th at 8:59pm. Adding in temporary zeros will give you an idea of what your grade would be should you not complete the remainder of the assignments. The goal is always to complete everything but, should you not be able to meet that goal, the next goal would be to get your grade up to passing so you can earn the credit for the course. NCA Prom- We’ll be holding TWO proms this year, one in Northern Nevada and one in Southern Nevada. All grade levels are invited to attend. You are also welcome to bring one guest with you, however, your guest must currently be in high school. If you plan to attend with a guest, you and your guest must complete the necessary documentation that has been attached to this webmail. Attendance runs from Saturday to Friday and will be collected through this form each week. This DOES NOT mean you should wait until Friday to fill out your attendance form. Congratulations on reaching the week before Spring Break! Let's take a moment for some virtual cheers. Even though we're a virtual school, you still get to enjoy Spring Break! Please mark your calendars: Spring Break runs from March 25th to April 1st. Plan to return refreshed and ready to dive back in on Tuesday, April 2nd. If you're considering using this break to catch up, that's a smart move and one we wholeheartedly support, especially if you're feeling a bit behind. Remember, Pearson Online Classroom is at your service 24/7, ensuring you have uninterrupted access to all your courses. However, please bear in mind that your teachers will be taking a well-deserved break too, just like you! This means calls, webmails, and assignments won't be reviewed until we're all back in action on April 2nd. On another note, upon your return, you might notice your account in an alarm or approaching alarm state. Our system isn't programmed to recognize breaks, so it'll continue tracking progress. Don’t worry though! We'll address any issues promptly once Spring Break concludes. Enjoy your well-deserved break, and we'll see you back soon, recharged and ready to tackle the rest of the semester! NCA Prom- We’ll be holding TWO proms this year, one in Northern Nevada and one in Southern Nevada. If you find yourself falling behind or facing challenges in any of your classes, don't hesitate to reach out. Remember, it's never too late to ask for help and turn things around! March also marks Women's History Month, a time to honor the remarkable contributions of women throughout history. Let's take a moment to celebrate the strides women have made over the past decade: 1. Women now comprise 47% of the U.S. labor force, a significant increase from 30% in 1950. 2. Rising wages for women have played a crucial role in narrowing the gender pay gap. 3. Women have made remarkable progress in educational attainment, breaking barriers and excelling in various fields. 4. The role of women as primary breadwinners in families has seen a dramatic rise, highlighting their growing influence in society. 5. As of July 1, 2022, there were 165.28 million males and 168 million females living in the United States. These achievements are monumental and reflect the ongoing journey towards gender equality. Let's continue to celebrate the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women, and look forward to even greater progress in the years to come. I hope you had a wonderful 3-day weekend! For those of you who chose to work, I hope you found it to be productive. For those of you who didn’t, it’s ok! Jump back in today and make things happen. As we navigate through the week and the remainder of the school year, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of self-confidence in not only your years of high school but life outside of high school as well. Confidence should be looked at as a foundation on which you build your dreams, aspirations, and accomplishments. It's the unwavering belief in yourself, the courage to pursue your passions, and the resilience to overcome setbacks. With confidence, you can conquer challenges, embrace opportunities, and find success. Confidence is not gained overnight. It is something you will grow over time through self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-belief. As you work towards building your confidence, always remember to believe in yourself, we certainly believe in YOU! State Testing - We apologize for any confusion regarding state testing. Attached you will find the updated calendar for testing including grade levels.
