Hello NCA Bears! Another weekend has ended and we are greeted with another beautiful Monday morning. Though Monday’s may not be your favorite and at times they can be more challenging than the other days in the week, remember that it all comes down to how you look at things. Try to greet each week with a smile and create a plan for how you are going to accomplish everything. Stay positive and always, always, believe in yourself. If you are going through a rather tough time and are dealing with a few curve balls, repeat the following: “I am strong. I am smart. I am capable and deserving of all good things.” You are now ready for the week! Read through a few updates below and then go off and conquer those lessons! It's how we are referred to in conversation. Using someone's correct pronoun shows that you care and respect their gender identity. At NCA, everyone is accepted and welcomed, no matter what their pronouns are. We want to take that extra step to show this by adding your pronoun to your Connexus overview page. This will appear in parenthesis next to your name, where your nickname is if you have one listed. If you would like your pronouns included, please complete the following survey so we can update your account. Click here ------> Student Pronoun Survey Attendance - Be sure to get your attendance submitted for the week by filling out the form below. Click here ------> WEEKLY ATTENDANCE FORM It's the same form each week so we recommend you save it and set a reminder as this is a requirement. Hello NCA Bears!! Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th- October 15th. Though we are a few days late, I wanted to bring notice to this so we could recognize and celebrate this history, culture and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. September 15th is an important day because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period. To learn more about National Hispanic Heritage Month, you can visit: https://www.hispanicheritagemonth.gov/ Spirit Week & School Assembly! - Spirit Week and our School Assembly on Friday were absolutely amazing!! A big thank you to all who participated and attended. We had over 180 attendees. If you weren’t able to join, take a look at the recording below and be ready to laugh! Site Evaluations, required by law, allow the SPCSA to assess schools’ student achievement, progress to goals, and fulfillment of their mission, vision, and educational program outlined in their charter. Part of Site Evaluations include Focus Groups with stakeholders, including Caretakers. Groups provide first-hand and distinct feedback from stakeholders of the school and contribute to the overall evaluation of the school for this cycle. The SPCSA team is looking for 8-12 Student & Caretakers to join the focus group. The Focus Group will take place in LiveLesson with the evaluating team on November 4th from 1:00pm-1:30pm (Caretakers) & 1:30-2:00 (Students). Interested? At this point, all adjustments have been made. Further dropping/skipping of assignments will not be taking place. It is also expected that all assignments remaining will be completed before the end of the semester on December 17th. Please plan accordingly to ensure that you complete everything on time. Internet Filters - Last year Pearson Virtual Schools rolled out an internet filter for all Connection Academy computers. For those that are new this year, this filter was automatically added to your computer. For those that returned to NCA this year, you will be contacted to get this filter added to your computer. If you’d like to expedite this process, you may reach out to School Support at 1-800-382-6010.
