Hello NCA Bears! Believe it or not, there is only one week (and two days) left of school! While that can be extremely exciting, it can also be overwhelming and stressful. We know that many of you are working hard to finish your courses. Just remember to breathe, take care of yourself and reach out if you need any help. We're here to help get you across that finish line. A few important things for this last week of school: Escalation- Alarm/Approaching Alarm Too many vacation days – If you are currently in alarm for “too many vacation days”, don’t worry! This will be cleaned up and taken care of for you. You do not need to reach out to your homeroom teacher. Our attendance coordinators are working diligently to clear up these alarms and should have everything completed before the start of next week. Contacts – If you do not have an upcoming call scheduled with your homeroom teacher, please reach out or attend a LiveLesson. Once the call or LiveLesson attendance is recorded, you will be removed from alarm. Participation: You need to complete lessons as soon as possible. If you are finished with all of your curriculum for the year, please disregard this alarm. You will remain in alarm until the last day of school. No need to worry! Assessments: You need to complete a test or quiz as soon as possible. Again, if you're finished with all of your curriculum for the year, please disregard this alarm. May is all about mental health awareness and what better month than the month you are wrapping up the school year? Things can get quite overwhelming and stressful during this time and remembering to take care of yourself, mentally, is extremely important. Here are five things that you can do to ensure that you are taking care of YOU: Value yourself - Treat yourself with kindness and respect. Avoid self-criticism and identify things you like about yourself. Take care of your body - Eat well, drink plenty of water and get enough sleep each night. Though staying up all night playing video games may be fun, you are not giving yourself the time needed to re-energize and reset for the next day. Give yourself at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Surround yourself with good people - People with strong family or social connections are generally healthier than those who lack a support network. Make plans with supportive family members and friends, or seek out activities where you can meet new people, such as a club, class or support group. Give yourself - Volunteer your time and help others. You'll feel good about doing something tangible to help someone in need — and it's a great way to meet new people. Learn how to deal with stress - Like it or not, stress is a part of life. Practice good coping skills: Try One-Minute Stress Strategies, do Tai Chi, exercise, take a nature walk, play with your pet or try journal writing as a stress reducer. Also, remember to smile and see the humor in life. Research shows that laughter can boost your immune system, ease pain, relax your body and reduce stress. Attendance - Be sure to get your attendance submitted for the week by filling out the form below. To ensure you are getting credit for the week, please make sure you are selecting the correct homeroom teacher. The name of your homeroom teacher can be found on your homepage. Failure to fill out this form could result in you being marked absent for the entire week. Intent to Return - Please take a minute to let us know your plans for next year by clicking on the “plans for next year” link found on your to-do list. This link is only available on the caretakers account and will remain open until May 3rd. Please keep in mind that after May 3rd all students who marked “no” or who have left theirs blank will be withdrawn. If you are unsure how to access this link or have any questions, you can contact your homeroom teacher.
