Hello NCA Bears! Today is the last day of February. We officially have a little over two months left of the 2021-22 school year! Where has the time gone?! Not only does tomorrow start a new month but it kicks off ACT testing. Though not everyone will be completing their ACT exam this year, we wanted to take a minute to wish all those that are the best of luck. You CAN do it! Whether or not you’re taking your ACT this week, the following testing strategies can help you on any test. Read through them and give them a try! Before: Get enough sleep. Eat breakfast and plan to bring a few snacks with you. Arrive early and prepared. During: Have confidence in yourself. Read over the instructions before you begin. Take your time. Reread your answers to be sure you selected the most appropriate one. Be sure to answer all questions. Relax and breathe. It’s going to be ok! After: Reflect on your testing experience. What can you do to improve the next time you take a test? ACT Boot Camp - Still preparing for your ACT exam? Feel free to use this recording from our last ACT Boot Camp session. Those who attended this session or one of the three previous ones have shared that it has helped them tremendously and that they feel more prepared to take their upcoming exam. Hello NCA Bears! Where has this month gone?! It’s hard to believe that March will be here next week. We’ve accomplished so much this year already! From LiveLessons, to phone calls, to a number of virtual events and now testing, there’s been a lot going on! We aren’t done yet though! Keep pushing until the very last day. You can do it! I wanted to take a minute to thank those of you who attended testing these last two weeks. We had minimal issues (mostly technical) and saw so many of your smiling faces. Thank you for being patient, understanding and respectful to everyone throughout the whole testing experience. With that being said, testing isn't over just yet. Please be sure you are looking at your Data Views to determine if you are testing. As a reminder, the following tests are being administered: CTE - Grades 10-12 * HS Science - Grades 10 WIDA - Grades 9-12** ACT - Grades 11-12*** *CTE testing - Only for students who have been identified as being eligible. **WIDA - Students identified as English language learners. ***ACT is a graduation requirement. Valentine’s Day is a holiday that has been celebrated since the early 1700’s. Believe it or not, hand-made valentines were even exchanged at that time. As years went on, more traditions started to develop. Whether you give your loved ones cards, candy, flowers or handmade items, it’s a holiday that is celebrated by millions of people every year. This holiday gives you a chance to honor those you love and care for. It could be your friends, family members, coworkers, peers…anyone in your life that means something to you. I hope you know that everyone here at NCA cares about you! Attendance - Be sure to get your attendance submitted for the week by filling out the form below. Communication - An important requirement that we have here at NCA is to communicate with your homeroom teacher on a consistent basis. Depending on your performance, consistent may mean every week, every other week or once per month. If you are unsure of when your calls take place, please reach out to your homeroom teacher to set something up. Along with this, it’s important that you have a working number listed so we know how to contact you. If you do not have a cell phone or if you are unable to use your cell phone, please be sure to webmail your homeroom teacher so you can meet in LiveLesson. Google Voice is also another great way to hold these calls. Mask Mandate Update- We will be sending out communications to families before the end of the day today. If you aren’t sure where you are testing or what tests need to be completed, please contact your homeroom teacher. Go NCA Bears!! Student Pronouns - Pronouns are a way for us to identify who we are apart from our names. It's how we are referred to in conversation. Using someone's correct pronoun shows that you care and respect their gender identity. At NCA, everyone is accepted and welcomed, no matter what their pronouns are. We want to take that extra step to show this by adding your pronoun to your Connexus overview page. This will appear in parenthesis next to your name, where your nickname is if you have one listed. If you would like your pronouns included, please complete the following survey so we can update your account.
